UNWTO to hold conference in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An international conference with the participation of the UNWTO “Preserving cultural heritage as a contribution to development of tourism in Uzbekistan” will be held within the Tashkent international tourism fair “Tourism on the Silk Road” in October.

Uzbekistan, being one of the oldest centers of world civilization, is a jewel of the famous Great Silk Road. The country has the significant potential for tourism in the region.

Uzbekistan possesses over 7,000 historic architectural objects and the country works on preserving this heritage. Objects in Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and Shahrisabz were included to the List of the UNESCO World Heritage and they attract millions of foreign tourists.

The conference was initiated by the UNWTO.
