Untapped opportunities in the regions were analyzed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 19 February, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of proposals to ensure economic growth and support enterprises operating at partial capacity in the regions.

In accordance with the instructions given at the video conference meeting held in January to analyze macroeconomic stability, untapped opportunities in the regions, problems and proposals of entrepreneurs were studied.

For example, in Kashkadarya region, by installing additional pumps and chutes along the Mirishkor canal, it is possible to develop 600 hectares of land in Karshi district. This will allow the cultivation of castor beans and the production of oil from them to be established and provide employment for 1.4 thousand people.

In some industrial areas, infrastructure capacity needs to be increased. For this purpose, it is planned to allocate 1.5 trillion soums this year. As a result, the attractiveness of these zones will increase, the activities of enterprises will expand and the number of jobs will increase.

Installing solar panels in unused areas near industrial enterprises will provide them with additional energy and reduce the load on the energy system.

Tax and customs benefits provided by decrees and decisions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan have had a positive impact on the activities of enterprises. For example, thanks to customs benefits for the import of textile dyes, the cost of knitted fabrics, shirts, suits and trousers has decreased. At the presentation, it was noted that it would be advisable to extend these benefits to consolidate the achieved results.

The head of state approved these proposals and gave instructions on improving the relevant regulatory documents. Responsible persons were instructed to identify “growth points” of all 208 districts and cities and prepare projects aimed at increasing the income of the population.
