UNISTREAM turnover in Uzbekistan grows by 12% in 1Q 2010
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- UNISTREAM international money transfer system said the number of its customers in Uzbekistan rose by 20% and turnover grew by 12% in the first quarter of 2010. The transactions volume rose from US$87.2 million in January-March 2008 to US$97.8 million in the same period of 2009.

The management of UNISTREAM linked the high growth of the figures, first of all, with development of network in Uzbekistan and popularity of the system among customers.

UNISTREAM director-general Souren Hayriyan said the system was able to realize several interesting projects in Uzbekistan directed at improving service quality in all its aspects – including expanding networks and affordability of tariffs. He added that the system fully based on partnership bases in Uzbekistan.

Hayriyan said UNISTREAM works with 11 financial institutions of Uzbekistan in national scale and the system has 1,000 service points. He said that each fourth remittances to Uzbekistan fells to share of UNISTREAM.

UNISTREAM chief said the system has 220 remittance points in Tashkent, 60 in Samarkand and over 30 in Namangan.

Souren Hayriyan underlined that the system is completing introduction of addressless remittances in Uzbekistan, which will allow customers to receive money in any points in the country. He added that the addressless remittances will boost customer portfolio in Uzbekistan.

UNISTREAM reminded that customers received and sent remittances to Uzbekistan via the system for US$554 million.
