UNDP, Uzbek Government join efforts to enhance skills of economists
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The joint project of the Institute of forecasting and macroeconomic researches under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) “Capacity building for Economic Forecasting and Planning at National and local Levels Project” organizes a training for economists during September-December, 2009.

The main task of the project is enhancing human and institutional capacity and developing methodologies suited to the conditions of Uzbekistan that would enable to conduct objective analysis of the national economy, as well as provide well justified economic forecasts and growth scenarios.

Within the framework of its activities the project envisages the organization of comprehensive trainings in order to enhance the capacities of young government officials, engaged in economic policy development.

The training programme consists of three stage-by-stage modules, covering different areas of economics. The first module is devoted to studying the general economics disciplines: statistics, macro- and microeconomics. The second module will enable to improve the trainees’ knowledge and skills in economic analysis with the use of econometrics and economic modelling. The most advanced last module targets are equipping the participants with complex modern techniques of advanced economic modelling.

The received information and materials will be used to improve qualifications and skills of not only IFMR young research personnel, but also of that of the government agencies and ministries, involved in economic policy formulation.
