UNDP to continue to actively implement projects in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva met with the Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Uzbekistan Matilda Dimovska, whose diplomatic mission is ending.

During the dialogue, an exchange of views took place on the results of the work done in the framework of bilateral cooperation on topical issues.

The United Nations (UN) is one of the most important international partners of Uzbekistan. This influential organization has supported our country since independence and cooperates with us in many areas.

Uzbekistan has successfully implemented many projects within the framework of ongoing cooperation with a number of UN agencies, in particular with the Development Program, and this process is ongoing.

In particular, working to support the government in creating favorable conditions for small and medium-sized businesses benefits our people.

Chairperson of the Senate emphasized that relations between Uzbekistan and the UN have become stronger, cooperation at the regional level has expanded, many conceptual projects have been implemented, and important decisions have been made. In particular, the Chairperson of the Senate, dwelling on the personal contribution of M. Dimovska to the development of relations between Uzbekistan and the UN, noting that with her direct assistance a number of major events and projects were carried out in all regions of our country, significant progress was made in such areas as ecology, rural development, achievement of the SDGs, gender equality and inclusive policies.

In turn, Matilda Dimovska noted that Uzbekistan is developing, in the conditions of economic stagnation in some countries, Uzbekistan is showing growth, rising to high positions in the Human Development Index. She stressed that this was achieved thanks to the firm political will of the country’s leadership and consistent progress in accordance with the plans. 

Dimovska said that cooperation between UNDP and Uzbekistan will be consistently continued, the scope of joint projects will expand.

At the end of the meeting, the President of the Senate thanked Matilda Dimovska for fruitful cooperation and wished her good luck in her future activities.
