UNDP hands over equipment to Surkhan State Reserve
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Within the project of the UNDP, Global Ecologic Fund and the Government of Uzbekistan “Strengthening Sustainability of the National Protected Area System by Focusing on Strictly Protected Areas”, Surkhan State Reserve received camp equipment, equipment for inspectors of the reserve, sleeping-bags, binoculars, night vision equipment, and cameras.

Equipment will help the reserve employees to improve their work directed at protecting and monitoring flora and fauna, fighting poaching and violations at protected areas.

Surkhan State Reserve director Anvar Jabbarov said received equipment will allow to implement measures on preserving unique biodiversity of reserve and improve professional potential of inspectors.

The goal of the project “Strengthening Sustainability of the National Protected Area System by Focusing on Strictly Protected Areas” is to demonstrate new management approaches for expansion of the protected area system of Uzbekistan through building the management capacity of all strict nature reserves across the country.
