Under the IJF program, tatami and kimono will be provided to Uzbek schools

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the International Judo Federation (IJF) Judo in Schools program, twenty general educational institutions of the country will be provided with tatami and kimono.

“Judo in schools” is an IJF project, the main purpose of which is to teach social, educational and physical skills of children aged 5 to 12 years, with the help of judo.

The Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan, the International Judo Federation (IJF) and the Judo Federation of Uzbekistan have agreed to implement the program "Judo in schools" in twenty secondary schools of Uzbekistan. To date, this program has covered 20 schools in different regions of the country.

On 15 January 2020, Minister of Education Sherzod Shermatov, IJF President Marius Wizer, chairman of the Judo Federation of Uzbekistan Azizjon Kamilov and Minister of Physical Culture and Sports Dilmurod Nabiev signed a cooperation agreement on the implementation of the program “Judo in schools”.

According to the agreement, 20 schools of Uzbekistan should be involved in this program. Also, under the agreement, the IJF provided one tatami and 50 kimonos for children for each school in Uzbekistan. In the coming days, all these supplies will be delivered to schools.

As part of the program, the Republic of Karakalpakstan, in all regions of the country and the city of Tashkent, about 900 students will regularly practice judo.

It should be noted that this project will contribute to the implementation of the second direction of the five initiatives put forward by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The second direction of the initiatives is focused on the development of sports, namely, on creating broad opportunities for the full leisure of our young people in mass sports and physical education, and promoting a healthy lifestyle among the population.
