UN Information Office launches new project ‘Talking UN’
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The United Nations Information Office launched the ‘Talking UN’ film series. This series will feature a collection of films containing interviews with prominent UN representatives and national partners in Uzbekistan, in which they will discuss their work to achieve the five ‘generational opportunities’ as established by the Secretary General Ban Ki-moon during his speech in January 2012.

The ‘Talking UN’ film series has been inspired by Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s speech in January 2012 in which he established five generational opportunities, namely sustainable development, the prevention of natural and man-made disasters, the assurance of world safety and security, the provision of support to countries and people in transition, and the promotion of gender empowerment. In each film, prominent UN representatives and national partners will discuss their perspectives regarding the five generational opportunities, and the work they have undertaken towards their achievement.

Each ‘Talking UN’ episode, of which twelve have been planned in total, will be presented on the UN in Uzbekistan website and will be each uploaded on a bi-weekly basis. A new ‘Talking UN’ episode will feature in every upcoming UN Friday event, and each episode will be promoted both on the United Nations Information Office’s UN in Uzbekistanwebsite, and both the office’s Facebook page and Twitter account.

Each ‘Talking UN’ episode will feature an interview of a UN agency representative in Uzbekistan, or a national partner. One of the first series of ‘Talking UN’ episodes will feature an interview with UN Resident Coordinator Anita Nirody. During the filmed interviews, the guest participants will answer questions regarding both the generational opportunities and issues of global significance, as submitted by both the United Nations Information Office and by members of the greater public through the United Nations information Office’s Facebook page.

The ‘Talking UN’ film series has been designed to provide insight into the perspectives and ideas of UN officials in Uzbekistan. It is part of the United Nations Information Office’s work to ensure the transparency and openness of the UN system, and the ‘Talking UN’ film series will help to achieve this goal.

The first ‘Talking UN’ episode was launched on Friday, 23 March, during UN Friday. The UN Friday will specifically serve to highlight the new film series.
