Ukrainian firm to supply equipment for Petronas’ project in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the end of January 2011 Sumy Frunze NPO JSC (Ukraine) concluded a contract for supply of Complex Gas Treatment Plant (CGTP) to one of the fields in Uzbekistan. The final customer of the equipment is Petronas of Malaysia.

Frunze equipment will be erected at Urga gas field found in the Karakalpakstan Republic to the north-west of Uzbekistan in the former area of the Aral Sea. CGTP is designed to extract heavy hydrogen and moisture from gas and supply gas into the Bukhara-Ural gas pipeline. The equipment will incorporate heat exchange, separation apparatus and vessels, air cooling units, etc.

Sumy Frunze NPO JSC promised to manufacture the equipment in a very short time period. The customer expects the manufactured products in the third quarter of the year. At present the company engineering departments have proceeded to develop all required design documentation.

Petronas is one of the world’s biggest investors in oil and gas industry. Besides the activities within the territory of Malaysia the Company implements a large number of projects in other countries, among them China, Vietnam, Algeria, Iran, Libya, Tunisia. This year the Company plans to realize some oil and gas projects in Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iraq.

Equipment for Urga gas field is the first joint project of Petronas, the National Oil Company and Sumy Frunze Company.

Uzbekneftegaz and Petronas Carigali Overseas Sdn. Bhd. signed product sharing agreement in relation to Urga, Kuanish and Akchalak deposits of Ustyurt region group in Uzbekistan on 13 May 208.

According to preliminary data, hydrocarbons reserve at the deposits rated at 700 million cubic meters. Malaysian company is planning to invest US$450 million to the project, including US$100 million in 2010.
