Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 12-13 February 2024, British Embassy in Tashkent organised two days of expert trainings on compliance with the UK and international sanctions.
The trainings were delivered by a multinational law firm with headquarters in London - Fieldfisher. The first day of training was provided for representatives of the government, and was attended by a wide range of government officials from Ministries and the Central Bank.
The second day was targeted at the private sector, where key interests of the business community were considered in the context of compliance with sanctions regulations. During the discussions, measures of countering possible sanctions circumvention schemes, ways of preventing attempts to violate established restrictions were considered.
This training follows a high-level joint visit by senior UK, EU and US sanctions officials in November last year to discuss the risk of sanctions circumvention via Uzbekistan. This week's event reflects the UK's commitment to providing ongoing assistance to tackle this issue.
“We are hosting a team of British experts is in Tashkent this week, who are here to provide technical trainings to government officials and businesses on UK sanctions policy. We are grateful for the support and engagement that the Government of Uzbekistan has provided to the team”, Chargé d’Affaires at the British Embassy in Tashkent, Cathy Cottrell said.
