Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- UCell (trademark of the FE Coscom LLC) celebrates the first year anniversary of its re-branding. It was June 16, 2008 that the people of Uzbekistan witnessed the launch of the new brand, new values and new strategy of the company.

New brand brought a consistent, high-quality look and feel. It symbolizes openness, willingness to communicate, energy and confidence as UCell is for resolute and young minded people, supports their dynamic lifestyle and helps them to achieve success.

Today UCell is one of the leaders in the mobile market of Uzbekistan in terms of subscriber base, coverage and the range of offered services. Its growth is led by innovation and state-of-the-art technologies, the roll out of new network, introduction of new tariffs and services as well as significantly increased coverage and capacity.

UCell sustains the position of one of the fastest growing mobile operators in Uzbekistan. In 2008 UCell’s subscriber base grew more than 3.5 times. For this achievement UCell received the "Breakthrough of the year-2008" award of the National Contest of Trademarks of Uzbekistan. The company maintained high growth level also in 2009 and serves 4 million subscribers as per local subscribers reporting policy of Uzbekistan.

During the past year UCell successfully upgraded its network from the 2G mobile technology, which mainly supports voice-based communications, to 2.5G and partly 3G. In 2008 UCell invested more than USD 180 million to its network development. Close to 2,000 sites were put into operation in the company’s network, leading to increased coverage, higher capacity and better quality. Currently, UCell’s network covers more than 90% of the population in all regions of Uzbekistan.

On September 15, 2008, UCell was the first mobile operator to launch 3G in a test mode in Tashkent, Samarkand and later in Bukhara. 3G was launched for commercial use in February 2009 in Tashkent and other cities providing more speed and value to the clients. Today, UCell’s customers can enjoy high-speed Internet and video call in 3G network at affordable prices.

New value-added services were launched and their portfolio is constantly expanding, offering new opportunities and comfort to subscribers. Now it includes mobile Internet on the basis of GPRS⁄ EDGE and WAP, as well as MMS, ring-back tone, funds, voice messaging, SMS-to-email and email-to-SMS and many other services.

International roaming became easier as it is now available in a greater number of countries and in various forms. UCell already has international roaming agreements with 256 operators in 118 countries. In 2008 UCell launched new CAMEL (Customised Applications for Mobile Enhanced Logic) roaming, which makes roaming instantly available to all prepaid subscribers when they go away on a trip. Today UCell offers CAMEL roaming with 22 operators in 21 countries.

In addition, since early 2009 UCell launched GPRS roaming, which is now available with 32 operators in 27 countries. It is a technology which permits mobile data communication with access to the Internet and other services such as e-mail and MMS while roaming.

The company pays great attention to the development of its dealer’s network. Now it consists of more than 3,000 offices, which are easy to access by the subscribers in any region of Uzbekistan.

UCell has ambitious targets for the future. They include expansion of 3G network to the whole country, introduction of new attractive tariffs, constantly increasing VAS portfolio, improvement of network quality, capacity and coverage to satisfy subscribers’ needs. Special attention will be given to corporate sector, including small and medium enterprises.

UCell also plans to raise its customer service to a new level and expand its call center, as well as work on expansion of its sales shops network to provide high quality service to the subscribers.
