Athletes from over 50 countries of Asia, Africa, Europe, Oceania and Pan Americal participated in the competitions.

The championship opened on 12 December with the session of the Executive Committee of International Kurash Association. The Fourteenth Congress of the Association was held next day. The competitions began on 14 December and champions in the weight category of 60, 66 and 73 kg among men and 48, 52, 57 and 63 kg among women determined.

Uzbek athletes Nodira Gulova and Shokhida Nazarova (among women) and Suhrob Hudoyderdiev and Fayoz Fayzullaev (among men) won the World Champions title.

The competitions in weight category of 81, 90, 100 and +100 kg among men and 70, 78, 87 and +87 among women were held. Uzbekistan’s Maftuna Esanova was the second, while Dilfuza Temirova was the third. Among men Bektosh Sarapov (2nd place), Zafar Buriev (3rd place) and Muhsin Hisomiddinov (3rd place) were among prize winners.

Umida Ziyamova, head on corporate communications f Ucell, said that the company pays attention to support and develop sport in Uzbekistan. She said Kurash is ancient national sport with long history and traditions. She said that participation in such events shows readiness of Ucell to support sports.
