Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed 2 resolutions regarding the implementation of investment projects for the construction, with the participation of ACWA Power Company, of two more solar photovoltaic stations with a capacity of 500 MW each with electricity storage systems with a capacity of 334 MW and substations, contributing to ensuring their functioning, in the Nurabad district of the Samarkand region:

- Sazagan Solar 1 - attracted FDI - US$758 million;

- Sazagan Solar 2 - attracted FDI - US$1.04 billion.

The resolutions established that the state JSC "National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan" (NES) assumed the obligation to guarantee the purchase for 25 years of electricity generated by these PPPs.

Permissions have been granted for:

- NES to be carried out jointly with the design companies established in Uzbekistan by the Investor for the implementation of the Sazagan Solar 1 and Sazagan Solar 2 projects in the form of an LLC, the selection of international engineering companies and other consultants for the implementation of projects, without conducting a mandatory examination in accordance with the procedures specified in the Agreements on purchase of electricity from 19 April 2023;

- project companies to open bank accounts in foreign banks abroad to receive loans, receive and use funds in foreign currency, as well as make direct payments to foreign contractors, suppliers or foreign creditors outside Uzbekistan, without making such payments through bank accounts in Uzbekistan.
