Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the Preferential Trade Agreement signed between Türkiye and Uzbekistan, customs duties on imports of a number of goods from Uzbekistan were canceled, Anadolu Agency reported.

The order on the application of tariff quotas for the import of certain types of goods originating from the Republic of Uzbekistan, prepared by the Ministry of Trade on the basis of a presidential decree, was published in the government’s official gazette - Resmi Gazete.

Accordingly, within the framework of the Preferential Trade Agreement signed between Turkey and Uzbekistan, the tariff quotas applied to the import of a number of goods originating from Uzbekistan have been adjusted.

In particular, the document envisages the abolition of duties, including on such Uzbek goods as onions and shallots, peas (chickpeas) and plums. Within the framework of the tariff quotas under consideration, the customs duty on these goods will be set to zero.

The decision and order will come into force on 1 July 2023.
