Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Turkish authorities have abolished the “conditional entry” (şartlı giriş) mechanism, which previously allowed foreign nationals who had violated residency rules to re-enter the country immediately after paying fines or settling necessary formalities.

The new regulations came into effect in early February 2025. As a result, over the past two weeks, more than 150 foreign nationals, including Uzbek citizens, have faced difficulties at Turkish airports.

Previously, foreigners who had overstayed their permitted time in Türkiye or had been denied a residence permit (ikamet izni) could take advantage of the conditional entry right. This allowed them to return to the country promptly and reapply or complete the required documentation within 10 days.

Under the new rules, violators now face an entry ban ranging from 3 to 6 months, depending on their nationality.

The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul has urged Uzbek citizens planning trips to Türkiye to familiarize themselves with migration requirements in advance and ensure they have all necessary documents.

At the same time, individuals who have been denied a residence permit are advised to leave the country properly and in compliance with Turkish laws, as violations could affect their ability to enter Türkiye in the future.
