Turkish brand Layki plans to invest US$1 million in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Uzcharmsanoat association Fakhriddin Boboev held a meeting with the head of the Turkish company Layki, which was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the People’s Bank of Uzbekistan and departments that are part of the Uzbek-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission.

The parties discussed organizational and practical issues of implementing the project to create the production of footwear products, soles and glue under the Layki brand with Uzbek enterprises.

Layki, which began operations in 1989, has grown from a small workshop to one of the leaders in the Turkish footwear and textile market.

A foreign investor expressed interest in implementing a project in a small industrial zone specialized in the production of leather, footwear and fur products in Akhangaran district of Tashkent region. The preliminary cost of the project is estimated at US$1 million.

Organizational issues were discussed, including the participation of companies in electronic tenders for the acquisition of land, the schedule and format of subsequent working meetings to compare hours for work on the project and other details.

The Uzbek side expressed its readiness to provide support at all stages for the successful implementation of the project.
