Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s boxing coach Tulkin Kilichev suffered a heart attack following Hasanboy Dusmatov’s victory in the Olympic final, The Guardian reports.
On Thursday, after Uzbek boxer Hasanboy Dusmatov won Olympic gold, 41-year-old Kilichev was celebrating in the warm-up area at Roland Garros when he experienced a cardiac arrest. British medical staff members Harj Singh and Robbie Lillis provided immediate assistance.
Physiotherapist Robbie Lillis said: "The Uzbekistan coaching team had returned to the warm-up area, and everyone was celebrating the victory when shouts were heard. Harj was the first to respond, and I followed. When I arrived, Harj had already started performing CPR. I opened the first aid kit, took out the defibrillator, and applied the electrodes. Initially, he did not regain consciousness, but after 20-30 seconds of continued resuscitation, he suddenly came to."
Kilichev was hospitalized, and his condition is currently reported as stable.
