Triathletes from Uzbekistan take part in IRONMAN 70.3 Astana

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14 July 2019, a triathlon tournament BI Group IRONMAN 70.3 Astana was held in Nur-Sultan. 1400 triathletes from 50 countries of the world, including 20 professional athletes, took part in the event. IRONMAN 70.3 Astana is the only IRONMAN series competition in the post-Soviet space that is open to athletes from around the world.

The swimming stage was 1.9 km and took place in a beautiful stretch of the Ishim River, which unites the sights of the left and right banks of the Nur-Sultan. In the same place were located IRONMAN Village, transit and finishing zones. The water temperature was 23 ° C. The 90 km cycle stage consisted of two circles and roadsides with unique views of the modern metropolis: Ak Orda, House of Ministries, Parliament, Nursultan Nazarbayev Airport.

The final climb on the stage did not exceed 150 meters. The route was built as comfortable as possible, which allowed us to achieve high speed performance. The 21.1 km long running stage was held on the territory of the President’s Park and Triathlon Park Astana.

Uzbekistan ranked third in the number of participants in IRONMAN 70.3 Astana, after Kazakhstan and Russia. More than 20 amateur triathletes from Uzbekistan took part in the competition. It is noteworthy that many participants finished in these competitions for the first time. In addition, Irina Shayna and Anna Romanika went down in history as the first female finisher IRONMAN 70.3 from Uzbekistan.

Separately, it should be noted Andrei Sharipov, who became the fourth in the age category 30-34 years old and was selected to participate in the 2020 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, which will be held on 28-29 November 2020 in the city of Taupo, New Zealand.

Our athletes also showed good results in the relay category: 3rd place was taken by the team I Love Supersport Uzbekistan. Also in the relay race took part a team consisting of the leadership of the Federation of Triathlon of Uzbekistan, as well as a team of Murad Buildings.

Triathlon Ironman is considered one of the most challenging one-day competitions in the world. The most prestigious and most challenging competition of all time IRONMAN is 41 years old this year. The main difference of the “iron” race from all other sports competitions is that the participants compete to a lesser degree with each other - everyone overcomes himself. Here the main rival is fatigue, and the main ally is will. It is not so important how the participant will come to the finish, it is important to reach the end.
