Transport infrastructure of Tashkent city to be optimized
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution on measures on construction and reconstruction of objects of transport infrastructure in Tashkent city.

The document was adopted to satisfy growing demand to transport services, decrease transport expenses and increase loading capacity of some transport types, including public electricity passenger transport, optimization of its movement and decreasing pollution of environment by transport.

The resolution approved a complex of measures on construction and reconstruction of objects of transport infrastructure in Tashkent city, which includes measures on optimization of trams movement. Within the programme, it is planned to construct new tram lines in Tashkent.

In the first stage, it is planned to construct 7.1 km tram line on Tashkent small circle highway from Taraqqiyot street to Muqimi street through Qushbegi district by March 2011.

In the second phase, it is planned to expand road and construct 2.7 km tran line on Samarqand Darvoza street from Asadulla Khodjaev street to Oq-Tepa square. It is planned to complete works by April 2011.

Third and fourth stages will be implemented by December 2011. In particular, it is planned to build 3.6 km tram line from Beshqayragach street and Tashkent Circle Highway to Ibn Sino district. The roads from Ferghana Yuli street to Alimkent street will be reconstructed and 2.5 km tram line will be constructed.

The Government also ordered to complete dismantling tram lines with total length of 26.4 km on central streets of Tashkent cities till 1 June 2011. By 15 June, the pavement of roads, where tram lines were dismantled, should be rehabilitated.

In line with the resolution, all works will be financed due to funds of local budget. The document said the funds of the state budget and sponsors can be attracted if required.
