Two of the locomotives have already been supplied under a previous contract, the spokesperson said, adding that the companies are currently drawing up a new contract for eight more locomotives.
The locomotives are produced by Russian locomotive maker Kolomensky Zavod, a unit of Transmashholding. The plant is located in the city of Kolomna in the Moscow Region.
Transmashholding is Russia’s largest producer of railway equipment, trains and railway cars. In 2006, it accounted for 85% of all locomotives produced in Russia, 92% of all passenger railway cars and 75% of all electric trains.
