Trade turnover of Uzbekistan and Poland can reach US$115m in 2010
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Trade turnover of Uzbekistan and Poland, according to preliminary estimates, can reach US$115 million in 2010, the head of the Department on assisting trade and investment of Poland Embassy in Tashkent Slawomir Strzalkowski said.

Slawomir Strzalkowski noted that this is evidence that mutual trade overcomes negative trends, caused due to global financial-economic crisis.

According to Polish statistics, trade turnover between two countries grew by 16% year-on-year in nine months of 2010 to US$88 million.

Strzalkowski underlined that the polish exports remained at the same level as in last year, while import of Uzbek goods to Poland grew by 75% to US$36 million.

He added that Uzbekistan is continuing to expand export items with high value added cost. He noted that export of goods from mineral resources to Poland rose 2.5 times, chemical products – 2.8 times, textile goods – 1.35 times.

Slawomir Strzalkowski stated that 2011 will be rich with events directed to broadening and deepening Polish-Uzbek trade-economic relations.

He said that Tashkent will host a session of the Polish-Uzbek intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in 2011.

Polish side also adopted decision to hold Polish National Exhibition in the Uzbek capital in 2011, he added. Strzalkowski underlined that the exhibition could be held in May, but added the Polish side is agreeing this issue with the Uzbek side.

Slawomir Strzalkowski said Poland wants to organize business forum with participation of Polish business circles within the Polish National Exhibition.
