Tourism Committee Officials Explore Japanese Practices in Sustainable Industry Development
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 11 September 2025, the Tourism Committee hosted a seminar on tourism policy and regional development, organized in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The seminar was led by Professor Shuji Koiso, Director of the Regional Development Center at Bunkyo Hokkaido University, who has more than 50 years of experience in regional economics and tourism. He presented Japan’s approach to sustainable tourism development and its role in driving economic growth.
During the session, Professor Koiso shared practical recommendations on shaping regional development strategies, diversifying tourism routes, modernizing infrastructure, and preserving cultural heritage. He emphasized that Uzbekistan has significant potential for sustainable growth in the tourism sector.
Particular attention was given to enhancing the appeal of regions for both domestic and inbound tourism, introducing innovative tools for destination promotion, and actively engaging local communities in creating unique tourism products.
The seminar was held in a constructive atmosphere and generated strong interest among participants. Journalists had the opportunity to ask questions about global tourism policy trends and receive expert insights into the development of tourism in Uzbekistan.
