Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva met with the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hussein Ibrahim Taha, who is in our country on a working visit.

At the beginning of the conversation, it was especially noted that in recent years relations between Uzbekistan and this authoritative international structure have risen to a completely new level.

During the dialogue, the current state of bilateral relations and issues of their further expansion in all areas were discussed.

In particular, the parties exchanged views on deepening cooperation with the standing committees and supporting structures of the Organization in the areas of education, science, innovation, culture and climate change.

Hussein Ibrahim Taha highly appreciated the preparation processes for the international event “Khiva - the tourist capital of the Islamic world 2024” and emphasized that this, in turn, serves to further popularize the scientific heritage of the great scientists of Uzbekistan who have made a great contribution to the Islamic world, its spirituality and culture.

During the meeting, an agreement was reached to establish close cooperation with the Center for Islamic Civilization being created in the capital of our country, and the Research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture in Istanbul and strengthening ties in other areas.
