Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 21 March, thousands of people and cars were unable to enter Uzbekistan due to long queues at the Kazakh-Uzbek border.

The press service of the Border Service of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan commented on the situation that arose at the checkpoints on the border with Uzbekistan.

The reason for the accumulation of people in front of checkpoints on the border with Uzbekistan and vehicles leaving Kazakhstan was the reconstruction of several checkpoints, such as Kaplanbek, Tazhen, Atameken and Kazygurt. The situation was also affected by the mass departure of citizens of Uzbekistan during the celebration of Navruz.

The Border Service of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan assured that passage across the state border is carried out as usual, and the necessary control measures have been taken at the checkpoints. There is no information yet about further developments of the situation.
