Thermal Power Plants: main indicators for 2023 announced

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Thermal Power Plants is the main producer of electrical energy in Uzbekistan. The share of industry enterprises in the electrical energy produced in Uzbekistan is more than 70 percent.

During 2023, Thermal Power Plants generated only 54.2 billion kWh of electrical energy. This is 1.4 billion kWh more than the plan; the task was completed by 102.6 percent.

In 2023, US$622.63 million were disbursed as part of investment projects, while the implementation of the established plan was 100.1 percent. As part of the investment program in order to introduce new modern energy-efficient installations, the construction of a combined cycle plant with a capacity of 1065 MW has been launched at Talimarjan Thermal Power Plant. At the Tashkent Thermal Power Plant, two gas turbine units with a capacity of 64 MW will be put into operation in the first quarter of 2024.

In order to prepare thermal power plants for the autumn-winter period of 2023-2024, repair work was carried out at 53 power plants. As a result, it was possible to increase the existing capacity of power plants by 209 MW, as well as the productivity of boiler plants by 483 tons/hour.

The boiler houses of the Chilanzar-5 heating plants in the Uchtepa district and Garbiy-3 in Shaykhantakhur district have also been modernized. It is noteworthy that the operation of the device in a hybrid form makes it possible to provide consumers with uninterrupted thermal energy even in abnormally cold weather by burning reserve fuel. In addition, a new modern energy-efficient cogeneration plant was erected on the territory of the Aktepa and Bogzor mahallas of Chilanzar district. There are 2 gas piston units with a capacity of 4.6 MW, as well as 2 Bosch boilers with a capacity of 25.4 Gcal of thermal energy. As a result, it will be possible to reduce losses in heating networks by 90 percent, generate an additional 32.0 million kWh of electricity, and save 1.0 million cubic meters of natural gas.

In 2023, as part of the localization program, it was planned to produce products for 35 projects worth 35 billion soums. In fact, this figure amounted to 48.1 billion soums, with the task being completed by 137 percent. In addition, the purchase of goods at cooperative auctions was predicted at 169 billion soums; in fact, the purchase of products amounted to 180.1 billion soums or 106 percent. In accordance with measures to reduce imports, products worth $18.5 million were produced in-house, fulfilling the established annual plan by 107.4 percent.

It is noteworthy that the joint-stock company is also carrying out systematic work to reimburse electricity used for its own needs using “green energy”. In particular, in order to ensure the implementation of a number of instructions of the Head of State in this direction, solar photovoltaic stations with a capacity of 9.6 MW were put into operation in 2023. These days, measures are being taken to increase this capacity to 15 MW.
