Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 31 May, as part of the next significant events held in Uzbekistan, the XII session of the ministers of tourism of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation began its work.

Currently, the 9th meeting of the Coordination Committee on Tourism is taking place in Khiva with the participation of representatives of OIC member countries - Turkey, Senegal, Somalia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Egypt, Iraq, Libya, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Maldives, Oman, UAE and several other countries.

Within the framework of the organization, issues of increasing tourist flow, mutual cooperation in the development of new directions of tourism, as well as expanding the opportunities for barrier-free tourism are discussed.

At the XI meeting of tourism ministers of the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in Baku in 2022, the ancient city of Khiva with a two and a half thousand-year history was declared: “The tourism capital of the Islamic world” in 2024.
