The winners of the republican competition were awarded

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 4 December, the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights held an award ceremony for the winners of the Republican competition “Education and Innovation in the Field of Human Rights and Freedoms.”

The competition was organized at the initiative of the National Center for Human Rights in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, the Agency for Youth Affairs and the Youth Union. 

The national competition was announced on 1 June and lasted until 15 November. In this process, by stimulating education and innovation in the field of human rights and freedoms, the focus was on further improving the legal culture and literacy of all segments of the population in human rights issues, and supporting scientific research in this area.

The competition received more than 80 applications from applicants in such categories as:

• “Best drawing (topic: “Human rights through the eyes of children”)” – 18 applications;

• “Best video about human rights and freedoms” – 10 applications;

• “The best educational literature on human rights and freedoms” – 3 applications (printed and electronic educational literature);

• “Best article on human rights (popular science articles)” – 20 applications;

• “Human rights scientist” – 19 applications;

• “Author of the best innovative idea on human rights” – 8 applications;

• “The best training course on human rights” – 3 applications.

The jury carefully reviewed the applications and creative works. As a result, winners were determined in 5 nominations. In several nominations, the winners were not determined, since according to the Regulations on the competition, if less than 3 applications are received in a certain category, the competition for them will not be held.

In this regard, there were not enough applications to identify winners in the categories “Best educational literature on human rights and freedoms” and “Best educational course on human rights.”

As a result, the winners were:

Nominations “Human rights through the eyes of children”

1st place Ruziev Bakhrom - student of school 41 in Karshi;

2nd place Nigmatova Shakhribonu - student of school 9 in Karshi;

3rd place Mamarizoeva Shakhzoda - student of school 13 in Zarafshan.

Nomination “The best video dedicated to human rights and freedoms”

1st place Toshpulatov Shukurullo - teacher of the Presidential School of Termez;

2nd place Zairov Asadbek - student of TSUL;

3rd place Jasmina Sadriddinova - student of TSUL.

Nomination “Human Rights Expert”

1st place Yusupov AkhmadJon - student of the Andijan branch of the Collegium Humanum University of Management (Warsaw);

2nd place Khoshimov Komronbek  - employee of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan;

3rd place ValiJonov Daler - associate professor of TSUL.

Nomination “The best article in the field of human rights: the best scientific article and the best journalistic article”

1st place Muhammadjonov Jasurbek - doctoral student at the Institute of State and Law;

2nd place Bakhtiyorova Farangiz

  - 3rd year student at TSUL;

3rd place Turgunboev Otabek

- student of UWED.

Nomination “Author of the best innovative idea on human rights”

1st place Abdurakhmonov Toshmurod

- 2nd year cadet of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs;

2nd place Kosimova Mehrinoz - history teacher of a specialized school in the Vobkent district of the Bukhara region.

The winners of the competition were solemnly awarded diplomas and prizes.

During the event, certificates were awarded to 19 graduates who took part in the training course “International Standards for the Respect and Protection of Human Rights: Practice and Reporting” and successfully passed the tests. These trainings were organized on 14-17 November 2023 as part of the implementation of the National Program for Education in the Field of Human Rights in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Letters of gratitude were also presented to partner organizations that have shown activity and initiative in conducting training courses aimed at empowering youth by providing human rights education.

In addition, the “Veteran of Labor” badge was awarded to two retired employees of the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights, who worked honestly and fruitfully for many years. This award was presented by decision of the Board of Trustees of the Nuroniy Foundation for Social Support of Veterans of Uzbekistan.

These events were held within the framework of the “Decade of Human Rights”, announced in connection with the 31st anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Day of the Declaration of Human Rights, celebrated on December 10.
