Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The volume of nonperforming loans (NPL) of commercial banks in Uzbekistan as of 1 January 2024 made up 16.62 trillion soums, according to data of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.
According to the regulator, the share of NPL in the loan portfolio of commercial banks was 3.5%.
It should be underlined that 13.26 trillion soums of NPL are fell to banks with state shares. The share of NPL in the loan portfolio of these banks is 4%.
The volume of NPL in other banks amounted to 3.35 trillion soums. The share of NPL in these banks exceeds 2.4%.
The National Bank of Uzbekistan leads in the volume of NPL – almost 3.1 trillion soums (3.1% of the loan portfolio). Agrobank ranks second with an indicator of 2.07 trillion soums (3.8%) and the Business Development Bank - third place with an indicator of 1.93 trillion soums (8.9%).
Among other banks in terms of the volume of NPL, Mortgage Bank is the leader with an indicator of 1.73 trillion soums (4.7%).
In terms of the share of NPL in the portfolio, Oktobank leads (85.2%). Also in the top three are the Iranian bank Saderat (17.6%) and Madad investment bank (13.2%).
It should be noted that the volume of the loan portfolio of the banking system of Uzbekistan at the end of 2023 was 471.4 trillion soums, which is 21% higher compared to the same period in 2022.
