The volume of construction work completed in Uzbekistan amounted to 132 386.9 billion soums

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As of 1 December 2023, the total number of enterprises and organizations engaged in construction activities in the Republic of Uzbekistan amounted to 35 297 units.

The largest number of construction enterprises – 7 364, or 20.9% of their total number, are concentrated in Tashkent city.

There are 7 364 construction enterprises in Tashkent city (20.9% of the total number in the republic), Ferghana region – 3 008 (8.5%), which is more than in other regions.

In January-November 2023, the volume of construction work completed in Uzbekistan amounted to 132 386.9 billion soums, which, in relation to the same period in 2022, is 106.9%.

In January-November 2023, high volumes of construction work were noted in the regions, in particular in Tashkent city (32 210.8 billion soums), Tashkent (12 253.0 billion soums) and Samarkand (8 937.9 billion soums) regions.

Construction work in the Republic of Uzbekistan for January-November 2023 is distributed by type of economic activity as follows: 

- the share of construction of buildings and structures reached 69.9%, which, compared to the same period in 2022, amounted to 105.3%; 

- the share of construction of civil facilities was fixed at 20.8% and, if compared with the corresponding period in 2022, this amounted to 104.9%; 

- the share of specialized construction work is 9.3% and, compared to the same period in 2022, this amounted to 126.9%.

The scope of construction work includes work performed by legal entities and individuals under construction contracts and in an economic way, as well as the construction of objects for sale.

A significant part of the work was carried out on the construction of new buildings and structures. Thus, 70.3% of their total volume, or 93 044.2 billion soums, were directed to the creation of new production cap

Large construction organizations carried out construction work on new construction worth 27 654.0 billion soums, or 29.7% of their total volume.

Small enterprises and micro-firms completed construction work on new construction worth 43 543.7 billion soums, or 46.8% of their total volume.

In the informal sector, construction work on new construction was carried out for 21 846.5 billion soums, or 23.5% of their total volume.

In January-November 2023, high volumes were recorded for new construction works by region, in particular in Tashkent city (18 982.0 billion soums), Tashkent region (7 630.1 billion soums), Samarkand region (6 061.5 billion soums) and Bukhara region (5 757.9 billion soums).

According to the Statistical Classifier of products (goods, works, services) by type of economic activity of the Republic of Uzbekistan (SPC), starting from January 1, 2015, the indicator "Volume of work performed on its own" by type of activity "Construction" is applied.

The share in the total volume of construction work performed by large construction organizations in the overall structure of buildings and structures was 25.1% and, compared to the same period in 2022, it decreased by 0.7 percentage points.

The share of small enterprises and micro firms in this type of activity, if compared with the same period in 2022, decreased by 0.7 percentage points and amounted to 47.8%.

The share of the informal sector, compared to the same period in 2022, increased by 1.4 percentage points and amounted to 27.1%.

The highest shares of construction work by type of activity of buildings and structures were noted in Jizzakh (83.6%), Navoi (80.3% of the total volume of construction work performed in this region) and Surkhandarya (76.2%) regions.

The construction of civil facilities includes the construction of heavy structures, in particular such as highways, streets, bridges, tunnels, railways, airfields, harbors and other water projects, irrigation systems, industrial structures, pipelines, power lines, outdoor sports complexes, etc.

The share of the volume of construction work performed by large construction organizations for the construction of civil facilities amounted to 25.9% and decreased, compared with the corresponding period of 2022, by 3.1 percentage points. The share of small enterprises and micro firms in the construction of facilities amounted to 74.0% (an increase of 3.1 percentage points). The share of the informal sector, compared with in the same period of 2022, it amounted to 0.1% and remained unchanged.

The highest proportions of construction work performed by type of activity construction of civil facilities were noted in Samarkand region (71.3% of the total volume of construction work performed in this region), the Syrdarya region (37.0%) and the Bukhara region (26.5%).

The share of the volume of construction work performed by large construction organizations for specialized construction work amounted to 22.6% and, compared with the corresponding period in 2022, decreased by 8.8 percentage points. Also, the share of small enterprises and micro firms in the construction of facilities amounted to 77.4% (increased by 8.8 percentage points).

The highest shares of construction work performed by type of activity, specialized construction work, were noted in the Namangan region (17.2%), Tashkent city (15.6% of the total volume of construction work performed in this region) and the Tashkent region (12. 8 %).

It is known that the volume of construction works is determined by their composition, performed by large construction organizations, small enterprises and micro firms, as well as the informal sector.

The volume of construction work performed by large construction organizations in January-November 2023 amounted to 33 146.0 billion soums. Compared to the same period in 2022, at the time under review, the volume of construction work amounted to 100.1%, and their share in the total volume decreased by 1.9% and amounted to 25.0%.

The highest share in the volume of construction work performed by large construction organizations was noted in Tashkent city (28.2% of the total volume of construction work in this region), Kashkadarya region (25.2%) and Syrdarya region (21.1%).

The share of construction work performed by small enterprises and micro firms in January-November 2023 amounted to 56.0% of their total volume, which is 1.1% more when compared with the same period in 2022. Thus, the total volume of construction work performed by them amounted to 74 109.2 billion soums and, in relation to the corresponding period of 2022, it reached 110.1%.

The largest volume of construction work carried out by small enterprises and micro firms in the period under review was noted in Tashkent city (20 144.4 billion soums), Samarkand (6 651.7 billion soums) and Tashkent (6 520.4 billion soums) regions.

The share of construction work in the informal sector amounted to 19.0%, or 25 131.7 billion soums and, compared to the same period in 2022, it reached 107.4 %. In the informal sector, work on individual housing construction reached 18 402.3 billion soums and, in relation to the same period in 2022, it amounted to 111.3%, also for the construction of non–residential facilities by individuals – 3 255.7 billion soums and, in relation to the same period in 2022, 86.5%, for individual repairs – 3 473.7 billion soums and, in relation to the same period in 2022, – 111.7%.

The largest volumes of construction work carried out by the informal sector in the period under review were noted in Tashkent region (3 280.1 billion soums), Tashkent city (2 976.2 billion soums) and Bukhara region (2 306.4 billion soums).

Construction works carried out by state organizations in the republic as a whole reached 3 575.2 billion soums, the volume of construction works carried out by non-governmental organizations amounted to 128 811.7 billion soums, and their share is 2.7% and 97.3%, respectively.

The highest share in the total volume of construction work performed by non-state ownership was noted in the Jizzakh region (99.7% of the total volume of construction work in this region), Surkhandarya region (99.5% of the total volume of construction work in this region) and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (98.5% of the total volume of construction work in the region).
