The volume of banking cash turnover increased by 39.3% in January-September 2022

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, in January-September 2022, the volume of banking cash turnover amounted to 503.0 trillion soums, and increased by 39.3 percent compared to the same period of 2021.

In particular, the volume of cash receipts at the cash desks of banks reached o 244.3 trillion soums, and the expenditure of cash is 258.7 trillion soums.

In January-September of this year, the total amount of cash receipts at the cash desks of banks increased by 36.7 percent compared to the same period in 2021, in particular, receipts from trade and services increased by 27.5 percent (24.7 trillion soums ), cash receipts from the provision of banking services - by 62.3 percent (31.8 trillion soums). There was a decrease in the share of revenue from trade and services in the structure of total revenues by 3.4 percentage points.

For 9 months of 2022, total income from trade and services amounted to 183.1 trillion soums, of which 62.6 percent (114.6 trillion soums) in cash, 37.4 percent (68.5 trillion soums) through terminals. For the same period of last year, respectively, 64.4 percent (89.9 trillion soums) in cash, 35.6 percent (49.6 trillion soums) credited to bank accounts through terminals.

In January-September of this year, the consumption of cash through the cash desks of banks (including ATMs) increased by 41.8 percent (76.2 trillion soums) against the same period of last year.

The main part of this growth was formed due to the increase in the amount of cash withdrawals from bank cards by 38.6 trillion soums (an increase of 57.7% compared to the same period of last year), the volume of cash withdrawals from savings accounts by 4.9 trillion soums (38.7%), and an increase in the volume of operations for the purchase of cash foreign currency by banks by 17 trillion soums (35.6%).

Including, for 9 months of this year, funds received on bank cards increased by 88.7 percent (by 179.8 trillion soums) compared to the same period of last year, which amounted to 382.6 trillion soums.

Of which: 125.6 trillion soums - for the payment of pensions, benefits and wages, 121.9 trillion soums - transfers from card to card (including international money transfers), 79.1 trillion soums - these are funds transferred in cash and from savings accounts to bank cards.

During this period, 105.5 trillion soums (27.6 percent) of funds were withdrawn from bank cards in cash.

Of these: 83.4 trillion soums were cashed out through ATMs, and 22 trillion soums - at the cash desks of banks.

The difference between the funds received by banks and the demand for them was ensured by issuing additional funds into circulation by the Central Bank.

In particular, for 9 months of the current year, the Central Bank issued an additional 15.1 trillion soums into circulation. soums of cash, and as of 1 October, the share of cash in the total money supply amounted to 25.1 percent.
