Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The United States has imposed sanctions against the Akhangarancement cement plant from Uzbekistan and Akkermann Cement CA, which owns the plant.

Akkermann Cement CA is part of Alisher Usmanov’s USM holding.

The US Treasury today announced new sanctions against Alisher Usmanov. The department noted that Alisher Usmanov has at his disposal a wide network of offshore enterprises. He can also conduct financial transactions through family members, which potentially allows him to circumvent sanctions.

The US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) also placed Metalloinvest, USM Telecom and MegaFon on the list of restrictions. The assets of companies in the SDN list are blocked. For transactions involving companies from the list, it is prohibited to conduct any business and transactions for American citizens and persons.

Akkermann Cement CA acquired the Akhangarancement plant in January 2022. Lamanka Enterprises from Cyprus and Giacinttar from the British Virgin Islands then announced the sale of their shares in Akhangarancement for 1.88 trillion soums.
