The UN General Assembly adopts the first resolution on the regulation of artificial intelligence

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The UN General Assembly unanimously adopted a 13-point resolution developed by the United States, co-authored with more than 100 countries, aimed at regulating and ensuring security in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).

Among the co-authors are Brazil, Great Britain, Germany, Israel, Spain, China, UAE, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia.

This historic agreement reflects the shared responsibility and collective destiny of the global community. Highlights of the resolution include:

  • the need to ensure equal and fair access to the benefits of digital transformation for all countries, including developing ones;
  • the use of AI should not be contrary to peace or suppress fundamental human rights;
  • countries and companies should pay particular attention to preventing bias and discrimination in AI systems;
  • AI innovation and regulation must work together to ensure effective and safe AI development.

The authors of the document propose to implement measures to respect intellectual property rights, ensure confidentiality and protection of personal data, as well as transparency, predictability, and reliability of artificial intelligence systems throughout their entire life cycle.

The resolution calls for efforts to ensure that all automated decisions and related processes are subject to human oversight.

Uzbekistan’s participation in supporting this resolution is a manifestation of its commitment to ensuring the safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence for the entire global community.
