Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The UAE delegation headed by the Executive Chairman of the Department of Government Relations of the Emirate of Sharjah, Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, visited a number of historical sites and monuments in Samarkand.
In particular, the delegation visited the Shahi Zinda complex, the mausoleums of Gur Emir and Khoja Daniyar, and the Memorial Complex of Islam Karimov. The guests were also provided with information about the history of the era of Amir Timur and his mausoleum, and attention was focused on the development of science and culture during the Timurid period.
The guests were greatly impressed by the tourist village of Konigil. The representatives of the delegation were interested in objects, traditions, values, national costumes, and cuisine, talking about the centuries-old history of this place. The guests also visited the Afrosiab Museum, the Mirzo Ulugbek Observatory, and the Silk Road Samarkand Tourist Center.
The visit of the UAE delegation to ancient and modern Samarkand ended with a trip to the legendary Registan complex.
"It has been a fantastic visit to Uzbekistan. We started our visit in historical city of Bukhara, then visited Samarkand, where we opened our archaeological exhibition showcasing our shared history. I am glad to meet the Uzbek people. I hope that I will come to your country more than once", said Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi.
