The UAE delegation takes part in the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Samarkand - the cradle of the national drama theater”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- During the visit to Uzbekistan, representatives of the UAE delegation took part in the opening of the exhibition of archaeological finds of the Emirate of Sharjah, held at the Art Residence of the International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage "Silk Road", as well as in the opening of the exhibition “Samarkand is the cradle of the national drama theater” in the Art Station art gallery.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition “Samarkand - the cradle of the national drama theater” was attended by the Executive Chairman of the Government of the Emirate of Sharjah UAE Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change Aziz Abdukhakimov, representatives of the UAE delegation and the government of the Samarkand region.

At the event, Sheikh Fahim bin Sultan Al Qasimi was presented with an exhibition exposition, as well as information about the activities of the outstanding Uzbek actress Sara Ishanturaeva, who laid the foundations of dramatic art in Uzbekistan in the first half of the 20th century. The exhibition made a great impression on the guests.

“The exhibition tells the story of the actress, as well as other famous artists. Its goal is to form a generation of actors who will tell about the fate of Sara Ishanturaeva and other public figures of Uzbekistan who dedicated their lives to art and education,” said exhibition curator Durdona Kulmatova.

The main collection of the exhibition covers the period from 1924 to 1937 and consists of paintings depicting the backstage life of the theater staff, archival documents, personal belongings of Sara Ishanturaeva and Abror Khidoyatov, including costumes, props and decorations. The collection also includes later photographs of the actress and a video interview with a story about the actress by her granddaughter Nadira Khidoyatova.

During her 70-year creative career, which began in Samarkand, Sara Ishanturaeva performed more than 100 roles in theater and cinema. She received many awards for her work and social activism.
