Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In Kyrgyzstan, on the coast of Lake Issyk-Kul, the Second Summer International Festival and Go Game Tournament - Issyk-Kul Go Cup 2023 was held, in which more than 200 players from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Russia, Belarus, UK and USA took part. Issyk-Kul Go Cup is one of the main international tournaments in Central Asia, held by the Go Federation of Kyrgyzstan. The purpose of the tournament is the development and popularization of the Asian strategic game of Go, the exchange of experience, the establishment of sports relations between Go federations, as well as the improvement of the qualifications and skill level of athletes.

The tournament was divided into the main tournament, which was attended by about 100 players, and amateur tournaments for beginners and guests of the festival.

The federation noted that the Go community in Kyrgyzstan is very young - it is only three years old. Last year, with the first international Issyk-Kul Go Cup, there was a boom in learning how to play Go, as well as an extremely rapid rise in the level of play of many current players. A year later, about 500 active players appeared in Kyrgyzstan.
