Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Tashkent Metro is testing the Palm ID biometric fare payment system. This was reported by the press service of the capital’s khokimiyat.

New technology allows passengers to be identified by unique patterns of palm veins.

Developed jointly with the state single integrator Uzinfocom and the operator of the payment system for public transport ATTO, the project was first launched at the “Friendship of Peoples” station of the Tashkent metro.

To use the technology, users must register and link a transport card.

Identification and payment are made contactless using a scanner that reads the vein pattern of the palm, providing a high level of security and protecting users’ personal data and funds.
