The Supreme Court of Uzbekistan rehabilitated 198 people

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Supreme Court of Uzbekistan rehabilitated 198 people who were convicted during the years of repression.

The Republican working group, created by presidential decree, restored their names and studied the archives of ministries and departments.

At an open court hearing on 6 May, chaired by Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court Ikram Muslimov, cases of illegal repression were considered.

The Supreme Court issued acquittals against 198 people in 11 criminal cases. These men were convicted of various crimes between 1930 and 1938, including counter-revolutionary activities, terrorism and participation in uprisings.

Among those rehabilitated was Sadulla Kasymov, the former chairman of the Supreme Court of the Uzbek SSR, who was sentenced to death in 1930.

Among those rehabilitated are Badriddin Sharipov, Mirsagat Mirzakirov, Rustam Khodja Ibragim Khodjaev, Vyacheslav Spirodonov, Nasriddin Alimov, Kosh Kurbanov, and others.

The Supreme Court notes that in recent years, 1,031 people repressed during Soviet times have been rehabilitated and acquitted.
