Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- By a resolution from 9 August, the Government of Uzbekistan approved the names of 19 stations of the elevated sections of the Tashkent metro, Dunyo news agency reported.
According to the Ministry of Justice, the Dustlik-Kuyluk elevated ring line was named "Uzbekiston mustakillininging uttiz yilligi" ("30th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence").
Last December, the khokimiyat of Tashkent accepted proposals from citizens on the names of 19 stations on the website Geonom.tashkent.uz. 1943 proposals were received from 458 citizens. The working group of the Ministry of Transport then approved the options for names for online voting. Voting took place in April. The government made the final decision on the basis of the conclusion of the republican commission and state expertise.
