Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Employees of the State Security Service (SSS) of Uzbekistan detained several tax service employees in Kashkadarya, Bukhara regions and Tashkent while accepting bribes.

In Kashkadarya region, an inspector of the field office of the tax inspectorate of the Karshi region was caught receiving a bribe in the amount of US$2,300. This money was intended for failure to conduct inspections until September 2024. The inspector planned to transfer these funds to the chief inspector of the tax audit department of the regional tax department, who was also detained while receiving this amount.

In Bukhara region, a senior inspector of the Gijduvan District Tax Inspectorate was detained for using his official position to exclude an individual entrepreneur of the Khojay Jakhon shopping complex from the category of turnover tax payer.

In Tashkent, the chief inspector of the district tax inspectorate was caught accepting a bribe of US$600 for failing to conduct tax audits in the Yakkasaray district of the city for six months. During the investigation, it turned out that the head of the district tax office was also involved in this illegal activity and was arrested.

In Tashkent region, the former head of the desk control of the district tax inspectorate was detained while receiving US$5,000 through acquaintances for a promise to reduce the net profit tax by 700 thousand soums for the company.

In all cases, criminal cases have been initiated and investigations are underway.
