The share of small and private business in exports reached 29.5%

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Experts from the Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research (IPMI) reviewed the most important reforms in the field of entrepreneurship and their results implemented in 2017-2022 in Uzbekistan.

Business registration has been simplified in Uzbekistan since 2017.

As a result, the number of registered business entities increased from 229,600 in 2017 to 555,900 units in 2022, or increased by 2.4 times.

In recent years, important measures have been taken in the republic to support and accelerate the development of entrepreneurship. For example, in 2017 the corporate property tax rate was 5%, and by 2022 it was reduced to 1.5%. In 2017, there were 13 types of taxes in the republic, the number of which has been reduced to 9 by now. For the period from 2017 to 2022, 10 types of tax audits were reduced, i.е. from 13 to 3 types.

According to the Tax Code, the tax authorities conduct the following types of tax audits:

- cameral tax audit;

- field tax audit;

- tax audit.

As a result of reforms in the tax system, from 1 January 2023, the VAT rate was reduced to 12%, which was 20% in 2016.

At the end of 2022, the number of small businesses operating in the regions, compared to 2017, increased in Tashkent by 2 times or amounted to 106 thousand, in Tashkent by 2.3 times or 49,100.

And in Samarkand regions by 2.9 times or 47,900 people.

The reforms also played an important role in the development of family business.

As a result of the implementation of the tasks outlined in the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from 24 October 2019 “On additional measures to improve the procedure for lending to projects implemented within the framework of state programs for the development of family business”, the number of family businesses has doubled over the period from 2018 to 2022. As a result, the share of small business and private business in exports reached 29.5%.
