Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The share of settlements in national currencies between Uzbekistan and Russia increased to 55% in the first half of 2023. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Dmitry Volvach at a joint meeting of the Uzbek-Russian and Russian-Uzbek Business Councils.
“We continue to move towards settlements in national currencies. Growing exports and imports must be well supported by settlement mechanisms. We are confident that it is precisely settlements in national currencies, the use of national, independent from third, external, financial regulation participants who are not always loyal to us, a system of financial settlements should exist. And we are building it with our colleagues from the Republic of Uzbekistan. In the first half of this year, the share of settlements in national currencies increased to 55%. We started with 45%,” said Dmitry Volvach.
A joint meeting of the Uzbek-Russian and Russian-Uzbek Business Councils took place within the framework of the III Forum of Interregional Cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan, which was held on October 4 in Kazan.
