The Senate of Uzbekistan ratified the treaty on allied relations with Tajikistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Senate of the Oliy Majlis ratified the Treaty on Allied Relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, signed on 18 April 2024, in Dushanbe during the state visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan.

This treaty elevates the relations of friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries to a new level of alliance, marking a priority direction in Uzbekistan's foreign policy in Central Asia.

The document outlines the expansion of cooperation in various fields, including: peaceful resolution of regional conflicts in accordance with international law, continued work on the demarcation of state borders, implementation of mutually beneficial projects in the water and energy sectors, development of parliamentary diplomacy and strengthening bilateral ties.

The treaty also aims to deepen cooperation in the economic, investment, scientific and technical, cultural and educational spheres, as well as in sports and tourism. Special attention is given to coordinating efforts in the fight against terrorism, extremism, and transnational organized crime.

The ratification of this treaty contributes to further strengthening multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, ensuring peace and security in the region.
