Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A Presidential Decree "On measures to effectively organize the activities of the Ministry of Preschool and School Education and organizations in its system" was adopted.

According to the Decree, in stages from the 2023/2024 academic year:

- in grades 1–4 of schools, curricula and educational and methodological complexes are introduced aimed at developing elementary knowledge in students, in grades 5–9 - basic knowledge, in grades 10–11 - knowledge corresponding to their interests and abilities;

- A new procedure for assessing knowledge is being introduced. At the same time, students’ skills in applying the topics covered in practice, critical thinking and analysis of the presented material are evaluated;

- classes in computer science will be held in primary grades, and in financial literacy in secondary grades;

- the share of practical classes in all subjects is brought up to 60 percent.

From 1 January 2024, a system of professional certification of teachers hired for the first time is being introduced.

At the same time, from the 2023/2024 academic year, teachers will work as trainee teachers and will have to receive a certificate within 1 year.

From 1 January 2024, a new procedure for assigning a qualification category to teachers of state kindergartens, schools and out-of-school educational organizations will be introduced.

At the same time, tests for obtaining a qualification category are held at least once a year in two stages, within which, at the first stage, the level of knowledge of the applicant in the subject of specialty and professional standard is assessed, at the second stage - pedagogical skills;

From 1 June 2024, the salary of kindergarten teachers is equal to the salary of school teachers.
