Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Until 1 June 2024, the Ministry of Ecology will conduct special training in the form of self-study for candidates for public environmental supervision. This is envisaged by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers dated February 24 of this year “On approval of the regulations on the public environmental inspector.”

The Regulations define the procedure, status, rights and responsibilities of public environmental supervision. In particular, persons who have citizenship of the Republic of Uzbekistan and have reached the age of 18 can become environmental inspectors.

The environmental inspector performs the following tasks:
— participation in the prevention, detection and suppression of violations of the requirements of legislative documents in the field of ecology;
— prevention of environmental violations, fight against poaching;
— increasing the efficiency of environmental activities and facilitating the participation of self-government bodies of citizens, non-governmental non-profit organizations and citizens in the implementation of state environmental programs and other projects.

The environmental inspector draws up a report when the following violations are detected:
— throwing away or burning waste in the wrong place;
— washing vehicles near open bodies of water and draining wastewater into this body of water;
— illegal extraction of sand and gravel materials;
— discharge of wastewater from the activities of individuals and legal entities to unauthorized places;
– illegal hunting;
– illegal cutting of trees and other circumstances leading to the destruction of plants.

This position is being created in order to ensure the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures to transform the sphere of ecology and environmental protection and organize the activities of the authorized government body” to organize public control in the field of ecology and environmental protection and increase the activity of citizens in this area.
