The retail trade turnover in Uzbekistan exceeds 243.71 trillion soums

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The retail trade turnover in Uzbekistan according to the results of January-October 2022 reached 243.71 trillion soums and increased by 11.7% compared to the same period in 2021, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.

Turnover of large enterprises amounted to 52.49 trillion soums (growth rate –33.1%), and small businesses and private entrepreneurship – 191.21 trillion soums (growth rates –7.0%), including unorganized trade amounted to 20.14 trillion soums (growth rates –12.7%).

Compared to the same period in 2021, significant growth rates in the period under review were noted in Namangan (+13.6%), Kashkadarya (+13.1%), Jizzakh (+12.7%) regions, in which there was an increase in growth rates in retail trade.

Over the past six years, a high growth rate of retail trade turnover was noted in 2022, while the retail trade turnover, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, amounted to 11.7% or 243.71 trillion soums.

Compared to the corresponding period in 2021, all regions recorded an increase in retail growth.

In the structure of retail trade turnover, a significant share was noted in Tashkent city, which is 25.5%, or 62.13 trillion soums. The smallest share was fixed at the level of 1.5%, or 3.71 trillion soums, which was noted in Syrdarya region.

The retail turnover of small businesses and private entrepreneurship, according to statistical calculations, in January-October 2022 amounted to 191.21 trillion soums and, compared to the same period in 2021, increased by 7.0%. The share of this sector in the republic in the retail trade turnover reached 78.5%.

In the structure of retail trade turnover, the volume of trade turnover of large enterprises increased by 33.1% and reached 52.49 trillion soums, which is 21.5% of its total volume.

The share of small business and private entrepreneurship, in comparison with other regions, was the largest in Syrdarya (92.6%), Surkhandarya (91.7%) and Namangan (91.7%) regions. In the structure of retail trade turnover, the share of trade turnover of large enterprises amounted to 21.5% of total sales, their main share was observed in Tashkent city (40.2%), Tashkent (26.6%), Samarkand (20.5%), Khorezm (18.5%) regions.

The retail trade turnover per capita in the republic in January-October 2022 averaged 6.85 million soums (it increased by 9.4% compared to the same period in 2021).

This indicator, compared with other regions, was higher in Tashkent city (21.44 million soums), Navoi (8.99 milion soums) and Tashkent (8.25 million soums) regions.

According to preliminary data from a survey of individuals, the turnover of unorganized trade in January-October 2022 amounted to 20.14 trillion soums and, compared to the same period in 2021, it increased by 12,7 %. Including the turnover of trade in dehkan markets amounted to 9.16 trillion soums (an increase of 18.6 %), the turnover of trade in livestock markets was recorded at 10.98 trillion soums (an increase of 8.2 %).

The sale of livestock of different ages reached 8.65 trillion soums, sheep and goats – 1.89 trillion soums, horses – 388.3 billion soums, birds – 55.9 billion soums.

In January-October 2022, in the structure of retail trade turnover, the share of trade turnover of public catering enterprises amounted to 3,5 %, reaching 8.52 trillion soums, and increased by 19,0 % compared to the same period in 2021. Of these 74,6 % of the trade turnover falls on the share of small businesses.

The turnover of public catering in the period under review amounted to 8.52 trillion soums (by January-October 2021 - 19.0%), according to the form of ownership: non-state – 8.51 trillion soums and state - 6.0 billion soums. Compared to the same period in 2021, the turnover of public catering enterprises of state ownership has not changed.

According to preliminary data, in January-October 2022, the volume of wholesale trade reached 184.15 trillion soums and, compared to the same period in 2021, increased by 26.0%. The turnover of wholesale trade of small businesses, according to statistical calculations, amounted to 132.55 trillion soums and, compared with the corresponding period of 2021, increased by 24.3%. The share of this sector in the wholesale trade turnover in the republic amounted to 72.0%.

The highest growth rates in the wholesale turnover of large enterprises, compared to 2021, were observed in Bukhara (133.8%), Namangan (63.2%) and Surkhandarya (44.5%) regions.

In recent years, the role of the public sector in the total volume of wholesale trade has been steadily declining. Thus, for the reporting period, the share of this sector was fixed at the level of 0.1% of the total volume of wholesale trade. The wholesale trade turnover in January-October 2022 amounted to 184.15 trillion soums, including non-state subordination – 184.04 trillion soums, state subordination - 108.1 billion soums.

An analysis of the share of wholesale trade by form of ownership showed that there is still an insignificant share of state ownership in Tashkent city (0.1%), Navoi (0.15%), Andijan (0.03%) regions. In other regions, wholesale trade as a whole is a non-state form of ownership.
