Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A tripartite meeting was organized via videoconference between the Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Badriddin Abidov and the Chairman of the Working Group on Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO - Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Geneva Lee Taeho and Director of the Accession Division of the Secretariat of the Organization, Maika Oshikawa.

During the meeting, the current status of Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO and the organization of the 6th meeting of the Working Group on our country’s accession to the Organization were discussed.

The meeting participants were informed in detail about the work done to organize the upcoming meeting of the Working Group. The transfer by Uzbekistan to the WTO Secretariat and the member countries of the Organization of all the necessary documents for holding the 6th meeting of the Working Group was emphasized. It was noted that ongoing bilateral negotiations with the WTO member countries and consultations with the Secretariat of the Organization in order to organize previously planned events in a timely manner.

At the meeting, a significant amount of work done by the Uzbek side was noted in the framework of the preparation of the necessary documentation and systemic interaction with the member countries of the Organization. The parties also expressed their full readiness to provide comprehensive assistance in organizing and holding the 6th meeting of the Working Group on Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO, despite the busy schedule of the Organization’s events, and to provide advisory and technical support to the further process of our country’s accession to the WTO.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue active interaction on all discussed issues and initiatives.
