The results achieved by Uzbekistan on one of the UN sustainable development goals were studied

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Specialists from the Institute of Macroeconomic and Regional Research (IMRI) studied the results achieved by Uzbekistan in 2017-2022 according to one of the United Nations (UN) sustainable development goals - “Ensuring healthy lifestyles and promoting well-being for everyone at any age."

In pursuance of the sustainable development goals of the UN Global Agenda until 2030, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan approved 16 National Sustainable Development Goals and 127 related objectives for the period until 2030.

“Ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for everyone at all ages” is the third of 16 National Goals, consisting of 13 targets and 23 indicators.

As a result of implementation, high results were achieved in the following key indicators:

- The maternal mortality ratio for every 100,000 live births in 2017 was 21.0, while in 2022 it was 13.9, and over 5 years this figure has improved by 51.0 percent.

- Tuberculosis incidence per 100,000 inhabitants decreased from 44.9 to 35.3 times in 2017-2022 and improved by 27.0 percent.

- The incidence rate of hepatitis B per 100,000 inhabitants in 2017 was 0.8 and decreased to 0.4 in 2022, a twofold positive change occurred.

- The suicide mortality rate per 100,000 inhabitants decreased from 7.5 times in 2017 to 4.5 times in 2022, and this indicator improved by 66.7 percent.

- The number of health workers per 10,000 people in 2017 was 26.1, while in 2022 it increased to 27.9 and recorded a positive change of 6.9 percent.

In the future, it is planned to implement the 3rd SDG goal in cross-linking with the Strategy of Uzbekistan - 2030, including achieving the following target parameters:

- twofold reduction in mortality among women, infants and children under five years of age;

- increase in the number of maternity hospitals by 35 percent;

- reduction of infectious and non-infectious diseases among children by 20 percent;

-  ensuring treatment coverage of 120,000 cancer patients.
