The number of maternity beds to be increased to 4,321

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Presidential Resolution “On measures to protect the health of mothers and children and strengthen the reproductive health of the population” was adopted.

According to the Resolution, from 1 October 2023, the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Maternal and Child Health will be created.

Medical teams of primary health care institutions:

identify pregnant women in their assigned territory, organize their registration and undergo periodic medical examinations;

conduct regular monitoring of the condition of pregnant women;

carry out periodic patronage of mothers and children in the postpartum period;

Regional branches of the Center:

conduct medical examinations and treatment of women with identified risk factors, provide their treatment;

provide special medicines and food products to children with identified hereditary diseases;

The Republican Perinatal Center provides:

all types of medical services for pregnant women at risk of premature birth and infants born prematurely (at 22–28 weeks);

Center:

introduces specialized and high-tech diagnostic and treatment practices when screening pregnant women and newborns

organizes the provision of obstetric-gynecological, medical-genetic consulting services, services for healthy family planning, molecular genetic examination, plastic and aesthetic gynecology, assisted reproductive technologies.

From 1 October 2023, training will be organized for specialists from primary health care institutions on the new system being introduced.

From 1 October 2024, with the successful use of assisted reproductive technologies in relation to persons classified as a preferential category, up to 100 people, the costs associated with the implementation of such practices are covered.

The resolution also approved a program of measures for the further development of maternal and child health services and reproductive health of the population.

The program provides for the digitalization and practical implementation of the home certificate for pregnant women.

Between 2023 and 2027, the number of maternity beds will be increased to 4,321.
