The number of clusters in the leather and footwear industry of Uzbekistan is growing

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Until recently, the cluster method of organizing production was something new for entrepreneurs in Uzbekistan, but in a very short time the principle not only became clear to everyone, but began to gain popularity. It is based on the transformation of raw materials into products with high added value.

For example, the leather and footwear industry. If a semi-finished leather product costs only US$10-20, then the average price of a leather pair varies from US$55 to US$90. In the case of branded shoes, the cost rises along with the value of the brand itself.

Today, there are 11 clusters in the leather and footwear industry of Uzbekistan. Here are some of them:

IP Peng Sheng LLC is located in Syrdarya region. A year, 60 million sq. dm. finished leather, 300,000 pairs of shoes, and 5,000 tons of animal feed are produced here. The company is working to increase the range. So recently, the production of gelatin with an annual capacity of 3 thousand tons per year has been mastered here.

In Ferghana region, the cluster production method was introduced by Premium Leather LLC. Today, this enterprise produces 20 million square dm. skin per year. The resulting products go further along the production chain of the enterprise itself - 200 thousand pairs of children's and 300 thousand pairs of special footwear are sewn from it per year.

Orient Technology LLC, located in Karakalpakstan, also launched its extended cycle. Part of the leather produced here goes to the production of shoes. The company supplies 500,000 pairs to the market every year.

Another enterprise, Top Quality Brand LLC, located in Surkhandarya region, produces 40 million square dm of finished leather, 30 million sq. dm. leather for the automotive and furniture industries, as well as 700 thousand pairs of shoes and 200 thousand units of leather goods.

Soon 6 more new enterprises across the republic will launch their production based on the cluster principle.
