The next meeting of the ministers of the SCO member states responsible for foreign economic and foreign trade activities

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 27 September 2023, the 22nd Meeting of Ministers responsible for foreign economic and foreign trade activities was held in Bishkek in a hybrid format under the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz side.

The meeting was attended by heads of authorized economic and trade ministries and departments of the SCO member states, the SCO Secretariat and the Secretariat of the SCO Business Council.

The heads of delegations exchanged views on the prospects and opportunities for further deepening trade and economic cooperation between the SCO member states, and also reviewed the progress in implementing the provisions of the Program for Multilateral Trade and Economic Cooperation of the SCO Member States (on 2 November 2019, Tashkent).

The ministers approved for subsequent approval during a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) of the SCO member states (October 26, 2023, Bishkek) a number of documents on the development of e-commerce in the SCO region and adopted a Statement on prospects and measures to deepen cooperation between SCO member states.

Deputy Secretary General of the SCO Sohail Khan took part in the meeting and spoke. He emphasized that against the backdrop of the unpredictable economic situation in the world, geopolitical contradictions and unilateral sanctions, the task of jointly responding to global challenges, progressively increasing cooperation, and consistently implementing mutual understandings and agreements reached by the heads of SCO member states is of particular importance. in the interests of ensuring economic sustainability in the Organization’s area of responsibility.
